Last Sunday a very good friend from college (Larry L.) wasn't feeling well. He'd contracted a sinus infection. After 2 Tylenol, he laid down for a short nap, and several hours later his wife found him. Our lives were similar in many aspects: he was 37 (I'm less than 30 days younger than he was) and left behind a wife and a son (his son turns 3 years old a week before my twins are 3).
Another good friend from college (Rolf A.) lost his 10-month-old son Sunday morning. He was a little fighter, but had way too much to overcome. (If you know me personally, you know what Little Bear went thru. Rolf's son had everything and much, much more than Little Bear.)
I know our time on earth is short, but things like this bring eternity to the forefront of my mind. I've been hugging my kids and kissing my wife more often (and longer) for the last few days.
